Own a Piece of Sunlight History
Lift Replacement Update - May 12, 2025
Hello Sunlight Family,
We hope this message finds you well and enjoying the transition into your spring-summer adventures. As always, we’re already dreaming about the 25/26 winter season—and we hope you are too! Don't forget: the lowest season pass rates will increase after May 31st. Be sure to lock in your pass now and save.
Lift Construction & Exciting Upgrades:
Our team has been hard at work this spring. Construction is gearing up: the haul ropes will be removed from Primo and Segundo the week of May 19, which will allow for disassembly of the lifts. We've already begun receiving parts for the new Primo lift. Stay in the loop by following us on social media for real-time updates on lift construction.
Own a Piece of Sunlight History:
All the chairs from Primo and Segundo have been safely removed and are now in storage, awaiting their next chapter—and that could be with you! We’re excited to offer you the chance to purchase an original lift chair. The proceeds from the chair sales will go back into Sunlight to continue to update our facilities and will help launch a new scholarship program for Ski Patrol and Ski School staff. These scholarships will fund continuing education, certifications, and specialized training to elevate the guest experience on our mountain.
Each chair comes complete with: a chair basket, the seat, and stem with haul rope attachment clip.
Chair Refurbishment: If desired, you can get your Chair professionally modified into a bench, a swing or restored to its' original glory by Last Chair Customs, a specialist in ski lift memorabilia and restoration.
How to Get a Chair
Season pass holders: We will have a drawing for season pass holders for 1 of 100 chairs at a set price of $1,000. You will need to send us an email letting us know that you want to be included in the drawing. Keep your eyes peeled for our next email, coming in 2 weeks, with the email address you will need. The drawing will happen on June 16th.
June 16 to June 17: This is an online auction for everyone. Only two chairs can be purchased per address.
June 19: Live auction at Sunlight - join us for a fun-filled afternoon/evening where 25 of the most coveted chair numbers will be auctioned off. Watch out for an email coming in 2 weeks that will have more detailed information.
If you are interested in a lift tower from Segundo (not a chair) please email
We’ve missed seeing all of you, and we can’t wait to reconnect at the live auction on June 19. Thank you for being part of the Sunlight community—we couldn’t do it without you.
Warm regards,
The Sunlight Mountain Team
Sunlight Mountain Resort Receives Final USFS Approval for Primo and Segundo Chairlift Replacement
Construction Begins Mid-April 2025
Glenwood Springs, CO – Sunlight Mountain Resort is thrilled to announce that on April 1, 2025, we received the signed Decision Memo from the U.S. Forest Service (USFS) granting final approval for the replacement of the Primo chairlift. This approval, along with the previously granted USFS Decision Memo for the Segundo lift replacement, paves the way for construction to commence in Mid April, 2025.
The installation of the Segundo and Primo chairlifts represents a significant investment in Sunlight Mountain’s future, bringing enhanced technology and increased capacity to our guests and employees. The Segundo lift will be a triple chair, while the Primo lift will be replaced with a quad chair. Both lifts will feature modern amenities, including restraint bars and footrests, enhancing safety and comfort for all riders.
“Receiving these approvals is a crucial milestone for Sunlight Mountain Resort,” said CEO Cindy Dady . “These new lifts will not only improve uphill capacity but will also create a smoother and more enjoyable experience for our guests and employees.”
Sunlight Mountain Resort extends its sincere gratitude to the USFS and all stakeholders who played a role in advancing this project from concept to reality. The resort remains committed to preserving its authentic, family-friendly atmosphere, and as a nod to tradition, both new lifts will retain their legacy names.
To commemorate the final day of operation for the historic Primo and Segundo lifts, Sunlight Mountain Resort invites the community to join us on April 6, 2025, for a special send-off event. Festivities will include live music, mechanical bull riding, live screen printing of exclusive Segundo and Primo merchandise, and a 3 PM color run to celebrate the transition from winter to spring. Additionally, guests will have a chance to enter a drawing for a coveted spot on one of the last 10 chairs to ride either Primo or Segundo.
Due to overwhelming interest from the community, chairs from the existing Primo and Segundo lifts will be distributed through various avenues, including donations, a season pass holder drawing, an online silent auction, and a live auction event in June. More details on these opportunities will be shared via Sunlight Mountain Resort’s website and social media channels.
The Primo and Segundo chairlift replacement project will enhance the overall mountain experience by upgrading aging infrastructure, increasing reliability, and improving public safety. We look forward to welcoming our guests to ride these new lifts for the 2025/2026 season. Sunlight Mountain Resorts operates under a USFS permit providing recreational opportunities for all individuals to enjoy the beauty of our public lands.
