From serene cross-country and snowshoe trails to exhilarating snowmobile tours, Sunlight offers more than just great skiing.
Sunlight Mountain Resort offers 29 kilometers of beautifully groomed cross-country and snowshoe trails for every skill level. Winding through the stunning high valley of Babbish Gulch—nestled between Sunlight Mountain and the impressive 10,300-foot Williams Peak—the trails begin at Old Four Mile Road near Sunlight Stables. Start your journey with a steady climb, and soon the trail balances out, guiding you through dense Aspen groves. The path leads to Sunlight’s historic backcountry log cabin in Sunshine Meadow, built in the 1800s—a perfect destination for nearly all abilities and a charming glimpse into the past.
For those eager to explore further, take the scenic Babbish Gulch Trail, which winds along a mountain stream, or venture through the forest on Williams Peak Trail. Continue on to Compass Peak Trail to reach the summit of Sunlight’s ski area. All trails bring you back to Sunlight’s base area, where warm meals and refreshing drinks await to top off your adventure.
Cross-country ski and snowshoe rentals are available at the Sunlight Mountain Ski and Bike Shop and at the Mountain Rental Shop. Trail use is free, and maps are available at the Guest Services Office. For more information, call us at 970-945-7491.
