As nights and mornings become cooler, our thoughts turn to the upcoming winter season. I wanted to take a moment to update you on the progress of the two lift projects. The dry summer has given us the optimal weather for the construction projects and we are on schedule for a completion date of November. Sunlight's opening day is slated for December 12th, but as always we will strive to open earlier if conditions allow.

The team from Leitner Poma and other contractors have put in tireless hours taking down our two retired lifts and have been preparing the lift lines for the installation of the Primo quad chair and the Segundo triple chair. Currently 10 towers have been installed on the Primo lift line and the first towers are being placed for Segundo as we speak. Each day that passes, we get closer to being ready for the winter season. 

The replacement of the Primo and Segundo chairs is the largest capital investment for Sunlight since the ski area was opened in 1966. Both chairs will feature comfort bars and footrests, and retain their original names.  Sunlight Mountain is committed to keeping the authentic vintage vibe where friends and families can enjoy skiing and riding at an affordable price.

Join us on October 18th from 10 AM to 2 PM at Sunlight Mountain for our first annual Skier Picninc. The day will include live music from "Father Jeffrey and His Wayward Children", face painting, a bounce house, pumpkin carving and a cornhole tournament. For those who attend there will be an oppurtunity to win a retired chair from one of the old lifts. Our new Chef, Sean Evans, will be preparing a buffet with options for everyone. Buffet tickets will be available day of for purchase. Todds Tavern will also be serving adult beverages during the picnic.

It's never too early to think about new winter gear! The ski swap will be on Saturday, October 25th in the parking lot at the ski and bike shop. Seasonal rentals will be available starting October 25th.
