COVID Safety

Sunlight Mountain Resort cares for the health and safety of guests, staff, community.

We are currently working on our COVID Safety Plan to be submitted to the Garfield County Public Health Department.

We will be posting our complete plan here in the coming days.

Throughout our company we have already implemented a number of new protocols and measured steps throughout all company departments and touch-points aimed at better ensuring a safe and healthy resort, workplace, and community.

We are following all recommendations from our local Garfield County Public Health Department, the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, and the Centers for Disease Control Prevention.

Right now, we have 100 percent reason to believe that the 2020/21 season is happening, weather-permitting. All ski areas in Colorado are planning for the upcoming season.

Still, there are uncertainties that will become more clear in the coming days and weeks. Here's what we know.

1.) We will follow all state and county guidelines, as well as industry best-practices in COVID-safety and take all measures to keep our guests, staff, and community healthy and safe, all season long. Several ski areas will open before Sunlight, so this gives us a window of opportunity to see what strategies work best and implement those into our own operation including our rental shop and ski school.

2.) We've hosted two events this summer that gave us a good look at what the upcoming winter season may look like. A lot of masks, that's for sure. Facecoverings are required.

3.) Also, the addition of 5 new runs last summer has helped us grow our total skiable acreage to 730 acres. That's a lot of land to physically-distance and stretch out on.

The biggest difference will be in our base area. Our lodge will not operate as it normally has. We're planning to incorporate more food stations, and when appropriate, we may ask that folks kindly save space inside for our youngest and oldest guests during the busy periods. Hipsters and families with older kids may want to consider your car as your base camp on busy days.

At Sunlight we communicate and reinforce with guests and employees to wear masks as advised, follow hygiene practices including cough and sneeze etiquette, practicing physical-distancing, and we encourage you to stay home if you're feeling sick. With the Sunlight Smile Guarantee TM  and the Sunlight Skier & Rider Playbook, we are all guaranteed to enjoy a winter season with so much to smile about.
